St Pete’s downtown area is crowned by it’s waterfront and Central Avenue which extends west to the beaches (about 20 minutes by car).

The waterfront has a great variety of things to do along with several parks used for leisure and events. There is a trolley system for the downtown area and another that goes to the beach

Beginning on the south end of the downtown bay front area the list of places of interest begins with USF (University of Southern Florida), Albert Whitted Airport, Salvador Dali Museum, Mahaffey Theater, Al Lang Stadium. St Petersburg Municipal Marina, Ponce De Leon Hotel, Beach Drive Bistros and Shops, St Petersburg Sailing School, St Petersburg Pier (closed for renovations) Museum of History, Museum of Art, Muvico and Sundial shopping, Chihully Glass Museum, North Straub Park, North Shore Swimming Pool Complex and North Shore Tennis. This entire bay front area is a great place for walking and bicycling.
